A Mental Health Care Plan is a document created by your GP to outline your mental health concerns and the treatment you'll receive. It allows you to access Medicare rebates for up to 10 psychology sessions per year. The plan is designed to make mental health support more affordable and accessible, providing you with the necessary referrals to see a psychologist or another mental health professional. You will need a valid Medicare card to obtain one, and it requires an initial consultation with your GP.
Once you have your Mental Health Care Plan, you can book a session with a Walking Session psychologist. Feel free to email your plan and referral letter at your appointment or beforehand.
If you complete your initial six sessions and need more, your psychologist will send a progress report to your GP, who can approve up to four additional sessions with a new referral.
