What We Specialize In Walk and Talk Therapy by:

Research shows that outdoor recreation is associated with significant improvements in psychosocial wellbeing.

People in talk therapy explore their moods, emotions and behaviours in a safe way. I'm here to guide you every step of the journey.

The science is in: myriad studies have identified a link between movement and mood. Tap into the benefits with a gentle walk.

What is Walk and Talk Therapy?

Picture this: Instead of rushing to your psychologist's office and waiting nervously for your appointment to start, you head to a nearby park. Standing beneath the trees, you take a deep breath of fresh air and feel a sense of calm wash over your body.

Before long, you begin to walk with your psychologist; there’s no awkwardness, weird pauses or uncomfortable note-taking action. You feel safe and supported and your problems seem figureoutable.

By the time you're ready to head home, you haven’t just immersed yourself in self-healing therapy, you’ve also spent time gently moving your body and absorbing nature. You’re feeling positive and looking forward to your next walking session.

Our Story

Yep! That doggo on the left has helped change 3,651 lives (and counting).

Our founder, psychologist Maz Miller, used to bring Dion to the office. Maz loved that office. It had huge windows with mountain views, and paintings of the beach on the walls. Scented candles perfumed the air and nature sounds drifted softly out of the speakers.

But, something was missing...

One day, in a moment of stagnation with a client, Maz suggested they take Dion for a walk. This client had been struggling to incorporate exercise into her lifestyle, so Maz figured, why not just do it right now?

Therapy took on a completely different shape during their walk. The beautiful scenery, the fresh air, Dion, the movement: it all worked to motivate and inspire both Maz and her client. As the session ended, Maz could tell that this was exactly what was missing from her practice.

She went on to trial walk and talk therapy with other clients and the results were unbelievable. People were literally walking their way through problems, improving their health and getting more out of every session.

So, Maz (and Dion!) started a movement. After seeing firsthand how powerful outdoor therapy can be, Maz launched an "Outdoor Office" to share its benefits with you!

So, you have some questions...

We get it – going for a walk seems like a big step. But, it’s actually safer, easier and more effective than you might think. Take a stroll through our FAQs to learn more.

Is the session private?

It certainly is. Our Walking Locations have been carefully chosen with your privacy and confidentiality in mind. At the start of your Walking Session, your Psychologist will run through all the details with you to make sure you are comfortable with the process.

Is it ethical?

Walk and Talk Therapy is ethical and based on traditional therapy concepts – the only difference is: it’s done in the outdoors. This way of therapy has been used in many practices, especially when a Psychologist is client-focused and introducing movement and nature as part of tailoring the sessions to their client’s needs. If you have any ethical concerns about your Walking Session be sure to bring it up with your Psychologist or send us an email at

Do I have to be fit?

Nope, no need to be fit, actually a lot of people access this style of therapy when starting their health and fitness journey. The Walking Sessions are all yours and that includes how fast and far you’ll be walking.

What happens if it's raining?

Our Walking Session Locations are carefully selected to ensure that there are Wet Weather options available to you. This and your Wet Weather Options will be discussed with you in detail at your Inital Session.

p.s. walking in the rain improves your mood, creates white noise to help introspection and the smell of rain refreshes your mind 😉

Who is not suited to a Walking Session?

Walking Session services are not suited to those who simply feel more comfortable in an indoor space, are not interested in spending time in nature.

Can I use my Mental Health Care Plan for a Walking Session?

Most people are able to use their Mental Health Care Plan for a Walking Session. We keep our referrers informed on the type of service we offer and who is suited to a Walking Session rather than a traditional office based one. Your Psychologist will go through an assessment process and let you know if for any reason you do not qualify to access our services under the Mental Health Care Plan.

Do you see Workers Compensation Clients?

Yes we do, you will require approval from your insurer prior to attending your first session to ensure it is paid for by the insurer.

Can I bring my dog to the Walking Session?

Of course you can! Please do! I love dogs! The location where we walk gives us plenty of room and choices, to make sure your furry friend and you are comfortable while walking.
